Research & Innovation In Education
The historical background of Inclusive Education dates back to two hundred years as and when the first asylum for people with disabilities was opened, eventually giving rise to Special Education, modifying into Integrated Education and culminating as Inclusive Education. We have come a long way from the medical model of disability to the social model of disability. The question arises: Is it enough? Should we celebrate our laurels? Is every child with special needs studying in an inclusive setup? Have we achieved inclusion in the real sense or ‘Inclusion’ is just a ‘fancy name’ for the policymakers?
